I have repeatedly had Microsoft Update download a number of updates for
Office 2003.
These have always failed and I have searched for answers.
Everyone is telling me to check OSE, and that's all fine. It's started and
on Manual.
I have come to the realisation that I don't actually have Office 2003.

Update is trying to tell me to install updates:
Security Update for Office 2003 (KB954478)
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2003 (KB953404)
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2003 (KB921598)

I get this error code for all of the updates:
Installation Failure
Error Code: 0x80070643
Try to install the update again, or request help from one of the following
resources.

I am currently running Office XP. Could this be the reason why they won't
install?
I have tried hiding them, but Microsoft tells me in giant red letters that
it's a critical update and should not be hidden.
Is there any other way to fix this problem? Or should I just hide the
updates and ignore the red letters. Will this interrupt any further updates
to my system?
Thanks in advance for your help. I know this question has been asked 100
times, but no answer has helped me.
Cheers

No, but it's the reason why the updates are being offered and should be
installed: "2003 Office Web Components" was probably installed by another
application.

Try inserting your Office 2003 CD into the appropriate drive bay before
attempting to install the updates. Or you can...
