I was just playing Freecell without problems on my own
updated Windows 98SE this afternoon; however, someone else
needed to replace hers about ten days ago (on April 21, or
about 15-16 pages ahead of this one), so I posted some
instructions on getting FreeCell (and the other 3 pre-
installed games) from Windows Update in the thread listed
at the bottom of this message. Perhaps those instructions
might be helpful to you, too.
[Of course there's no guarantee that you won't get an
hourglass (egg-timer) on the new installation of FreeCell
as well. I'd be curious if the problem lies just with your
your current copy of FreeCell or instead with how the rest
of your system interacts with any and all copies of that
programme. Do the Minesweeper and Solitaire that came with
FreeCell and Hearts still work OK?
Since I myself am a completely non-technical amateur who
doesn't work in the computer field for himself, Microsoft
or anyone else, I'd appreciate an acknowledgement once
this succeeds or fails, so that I know if my free free-
cell advice was helpful or not. Neither Marge S. nor two
other people to whom I offered unpaid advice about foreign
languages have ever reported what happened.]
Good luck both on your computer and with the game itself
(my own lifetime record is only 59% successful.)
