Would really appreciate help with the following error. I am trying to do the
windows update. I am using Windows Vista.
I get a failed message for one update. Have pressed the help and followed
the instructions but it's not doing what it should.
Help instructions are:
I tried to check for updates or install them, but I see Windows Update
error 8024401B.
Your computer is connected to a network and uses a proxy server to get
updates. Take these steps to provide your credentials and install updates.
Click to open Windows Update.
In the left pane, click Check for updates.
If prompted, provide your network credentials. If Windows doesn't prompt you
to provide credentials and you see the error code 8024401B instead, click Try
again.
When prompted, provide the credentials that you use to access your network.
Windows will automatically continue the update process and notify you if you
need to install updates.
It is not asking to provide the network credentials. I have clicked try
again many times. How do I provide them? The update is Cumulative Update for
Media Center for Windows Vista (KB941229)
Thank you!
