After installing the November Cummulative IE 6 SP1 patch 824145
(MS03-048), I find that if I open My Computer and click on the My
Documents link, it no longer works.

If I uninstall the 824145 patch, the My Documents link in the My
Computer window again works.

We have a number of users here that make use of that link. Is this
something other people have experienced? It has happened on all PC's
we have updated here.

Is Microsoft aware of this, and how the heck do you report a bug to
them anyway?

I have not heard of this problem, however I will have a play with that patch
and see if I can reproduce your problem.

I would recommend posting your problems in the appropriate newsgroup,
Microsoft employees do look at the messages and will follow them through.

One other thing I forgot to mention-

All the systems that the link is broken on have W2K SP3.

I just tested it on a W2K SP4 system, and found the same thing- the
My Documents link in My Computer no longer works with 824145
installed.. If I uninstall the Cummulative IE 6 SP1 patch 824145, the
My Documents link works.

Hello Pat. I have confirmed that this is an issue with all of the versions
of Windows 2000 with all of the IE versions. Thank you for reporting this
issue. I have documented the issue and it is under investigation.

Louis,

Why hasn't the security bulletin been updated if this is a problem?

I can't believe MS has not yet fixed this problem!
Perhaps it is because it is easy to scroll past critical
code when researching the problem? ;-)
