www.mozilla.org ;-)

But if you must leave your PC wide open to all manner of spyware and
trojans, try www.microsoft.com/ie

If you've just installed the latest updates, don't bother looking for a
newer version of IE. I tried that route and got an error message saying that
the version of IE on my computer is newer and Windows/MS refused to let me
install an "older" version.

So I'm now using Netscape which I don't like all that much, but at least it
still works! (But at least half of the Microsoft site is inaccessible on
Netscape, so who knows if I'll ever be able to get enough info to ever get
this mess fixed.)

In Add/Remove programs if Internet Explorer is listed you can do a
"Repair Internet Explorer" as one of the options. Sometimes that fixes
the problems. It is useful having a second browser if and when Internet
Explorer gets trashed, but I'd recommend a browser like Mozilla Firefox
or Opera rather than the bloated and buggy Netscape, though Netscape 7.2
when it is out later this year should be solid enough.

"crash876",

Are you talking about the new IE7 browser that is in beta testing?
That one is not yet available. Here's the latest IE6 download:

I have installed the latest download from microsoft by auto update on 2
occasions now and after each download outlook express would not work, nothing
to do with the internet would work, my internet service provider told me it
seems the latest update had turned off or no longer recognised my internet
card, the only way to get things back was to go to system restore and select
the last date when all was fine, I have dissabled auto update now, I cannot
find a way to contact microsoft updates to let them know of the situation,
anyone know how??

Is Zone Alarm the installed firewall ? If yes, then read this and
upgrade to the latest version:

further to the below, it was my zonealarm antispyware prog. that was at odds
with the latest microsoft malicious software update, I have now downloaded a
repair prog. from zonealarm and then all the latest microsoft updates and all
is well again now.
