I have a problem updating x64. It appears to download ok then crashes with
ox0x8024D007. I have tried making the update site a trusted site, turned off
the firewall and antivirus.

Tried both solutions but not joy. I still get the following message

I think the problem is the new installer not properly loading, but I can not
prove it.

Did you see Jeff LeBlanc's report of how he worked around this symptom?

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?&query=0x8024d007&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=microsoft.public.windowsupdate&p=1&tid=58d6867a-af52-4626-bf8e-713966ef05e4&mid=58d6867a-af52-4626-bf8e-713966ef05e4

)

BTW the code is undocumented but the code falls in a set of codes 0x8024D00
which apparently have something to do with Setup errors (whatever that means).

Good luck
