Problem is, I don't know why, but now, I can't install any more updates. I
have 20+ downloaded updates (some are "critical updates", some are "custom")
and when it tries to install them, it just say: "some updates were not
installed" and give the list of all pending downloaded updates I have. I
click "close" and it brings me to the "Result" page where it says 20 updates
failed. I don't have any error message.
any idea why I can't install any updates?
thanks a lot for your time and help
You need to read the Windows Update LOG to find the error codes, then post
back here or Google them.

Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144
NB: Also applies to clean installs, upgrade installs, and Recovery installs.
