Having trouble downloading update .net framework 3.5 sp1

Hi

I'm running windows XP and have tried to download the update Microsoft .NET
Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET
versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x86. When I click the install updates
button it starts by initializing update and then comes up as installing but
nothing seems to happen. I have turned off my firewall while I do this but
still no joy.

any suggestions?

I have had some progress..after waiting for ages the intallation comes
through as failed and I get Error code 0x643
