I have an application which since installing the update is unable to open or
update its configuration file. It is thus starting with default values.

I have no success with the registry changes specified in the "More
Information" section in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943460/en-us

Removing the update fixes the problem.

This problem has been exposed by installing Microsoft XP update KB943460
released 13/11/07.

To fix the problem the Folder Options - File Types options have to be
edited as follows:

1. Start
2. Control Panel
3. Folder Options
4. File Types tab
5. Scroll down to XT3 extension & highlight.
6. Click Advanced. Connect is highlighted on new window.
7. Click edit.
8. In Application Used put double quotes around the specified
application path, ending after .EXE. Also put them around the %1
variable. e.g "C:\Program Files\Systems AXIS\XTERM\xterm32.exe" "%1"
9. Click OK.
10. Click Configure
11. Click Edit.
12. Repeat step 7 whilst leaving the /c parameter unquoted.
e.g."C:\Program Files\Systems AXIS\XTERM\xterm32.exe" /c "%1"
13. Click OK
14. Click OK
15. Click Close

You may have Windows updates set to automatically install which is why
this problem suddenly appeared apparently without cause.
