I installed vista service pack 1 and system will not boot- any ideas?

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the
computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358

When you try to install an update from Windows Update on a computer that is
running Windows Vista, you may receive the following message: configuring
updates stage 3 of 3. 0% complete
After you receive this message, the computer reverts to the screen that
displays the same message. Additionally, the update is not installed
successfully, and the computer restarts.

dont think you understand. It will not boot - AT ALL- no screen to do anything.

Note To use offline System Restore, you must have a Windows Vista DVD.
Additionally, your computer must be configured to start from the DVD drive.
In some cases, you may have to modify the BIOS settings on the computer to
configure the computer to start from the DVD drive. For more information
about how to configure the computer to start from the DVD drive, see the
manufacturer documentation or contact the computer manufacturer.

In otherwords, you boot from the DVD.
