Hi, I have run into this problem before while trying to run Windows
Updates. Below are the steps that I did to correct the problem.

Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 SOFTPUB.DLL" (w/o the

quotes). You should see a popup message that this process succeeded.

Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 INITPKI.DLL" (w/o the

quotes). You should see a popup message that this process succeeded.

Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 MSSIP32.DLL" (w/o the

quotes). You should see a popup message that this process succeeded.

Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 wintrust.dll (w/o the

quotes). You should see a popup message that this process succeeded.

Now try the Windows Update site and see if you get the same

error."

Try the steps below. When you type the following, make sure you enter
Regsvr32 + [path] (there is a space after the 32 and C:\) Hope this
helps.

Click Start → Run → Type in:REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuapi.dll

Press OK

Click Start → Run → Type in REGSVR32
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuaueng.dll

Press OK

Click Start → Run → Type in: REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\atl.dll

Press OK

Click Start → Run → Type in: REGSVR32
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wucltui.dll

Press OK

Click Start → Run → Type in: REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wups.dll

Press OK

After re-booting the computer, try http://www.windowsupdate.com/ again.

What is a "reg32.dll"?
If you need help please try providing better details
and not being so careless.

Well, at least you, in contrast to the previous 4 problem posters
in this thread, have bothered disclosing your OS. Thank you.

However, why are you posting in a thread which is titled:

> [Subject: Re: error code 0x800B0001]

Try a search for your code?

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsupdate/browse_frm/thread/d20ca66a46516096/6f386dd86b8a11a9?q=(0x8dDDD0004+OR+8DDD0004)++(MSFT+OR+MVP)++group:microsoft.*&rnum=3#6f386dd86b8a11a9

(Google Groups search for
(0x8dDDD0004 OR 8DDD0004) (MSFT OR MVP) group:microsoft.*
)

First explained by Wei Wu [MSFT] last October.
