I would really appreciate if any of you could help. Basically, after
installing the windows update patch # KB941644, I have started to have
problem with my internet. Basically, internet works fine for some time and
then suddenly webpages stop loading (time out) or load very very slowly. I am
still puzzled as to what
the cause is. It is bizarre because my msn messenger connection never
disconnects which means I remain connected to the internet throughout. Also,
there are periods of time when everything works fine / webpages load very
quickly.
Now I have uninstalled this patch, and everything is back to normal.
Has anybody else experienced the same? Is there anyway I can apply this
update but still have working internet (since I realize at some point I will
have to apply this update even though right now I have uninstalled it
completely)?
Thanks!
FYI - I have Windows Vista Home Premium (Dell Inspiron 1520).
I am running XP SP2 pro and have seen a dramatic slow down after this
patch.
I think this is because I am a network admin, and I run a lot of
software. I have VMWare workstation running. I have my webfilter
interface up, my firewall interfaces, my e-mail, Access Database over
a network, Console-One, etc with views over multiple monitors.
I have a batch file which does a "net use" to 250 machines on a WAN
connected network so I can admin them (we just bought the place,
haven't merged forests yet.) This was taking 15 minutes to run.
After the patch it takes 1 hour and the machine is locked during that
hour -- that's running them all at the same time. If I run the net
use in sync, it takes 8 hours to complete but the machine's usable.
I think XP/Vista just are not made for Administrator workstations.
The impact shouldn't be seen by most people, except perhaps p2p'ers.
