I installed XP Professional and would like to update it with SP2. When I go
to the site where I can download SP2 it brings me to Windows Update . When
I click on Express (recommended) it does not show SP2. I have downloaded all
the upgrades that it shows. When I check the Windows version it does not
show Service Pack 2. Any suggestions?

I have been having trouble trying to update too. One thing I have done is
use Mozilla Firefox browser, search for "ms updates" to go to the microsoft
update site, tell it to keep using firefox, and then use the various search
methods there to find what I want.

Hi

Try this
open windows update

ignore express etc.

on the right of screen you will get

news
got windows service pack2

click on this takes you to download centre
it will be there somewhere

ALSO!!! be advised

there are many problems with updates
part of the problem is there is an update
to windows update updater tool

my guess is many get hassle because they havent done this upgrade first

sorry i have lost the url but a search of windows download centre should
find it

also this is a useful site

http://www.updatexp.com/

cheers for now

Remark from above site:*IMPORTANT?* "DO NOT CLICK DOWNLOAD IF YOU ARE
UPDATING JUST ONE COMPUTER: A smaller, more appropriate download is now
available on Windows Update." HTH, s

That is to 'scare' the faint of heart away.
(Perhaps they meant it as a friendly warning for the uninformed...)

That download is PERFECTLY acceptable for an individual to download and
install on a single system.

If Windows Update website (or Automatic Updates, for that matter) offers you
any updates, WinXP SP2 is already installed. SP2 has been a prerequisite
for updating since Oct-06.
