Any ideas, solutions, advice? Perhaps reapplying a certain service pack?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thinking about blowing the entire server and COMPLETELY reinstalling the OS
and software...
Thanks in advance.

Sorry had to say this but losing icons is NOT a very serious problem (to me).
braham
The document is based on icons graying or disappearing when the icons point
to objects on a remote system - the icons could disappear or gray if network
communication is interrupted.
Another publication is
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q234/6/06.ASP - you might
review that also.
Don't know if this is the cause in your case.
