Situation is:

XP Pro machine, i called it TARGET, configured with remote desktop
connection enabled.
TARGET is joined to a Windows 2000 AD domain controller.

On TARGET machine i have a Cisco VPN client installed connecting to
another company.

Now i connect, through LAN, from my pc to TARGET machine using rdp
session. When i'm logged into TARGET open a VPN connection.
VPN connection has a server policy that inhibit LAN access to TARGET.
When VPN tunnel is up i can't ping TARGET machine from my LAN. This
feature cannot be changed because went from other company.

If i leave my rdp (my pc to TARGET) session inactive for a few minutes i
see blinking icon on right top of video. Normally clicking on desktop
rdp session were restored, in this case rdp cannot reconnect.

Is there a way to avoid timeout or to force reconnect session ?

Best regards.
Andy.

Take a look at using the GPO policies under Computer Settings\Windows
Components\Terminal Server\Sessions for controlling session
disconnect/reconnect settings.
