DUN SUGGESTIONS

I am presently setup up a vb5 application that requires a dun to handle
synchronization of a replicated access 97 database. The database are full
replications, but specifically populated by my clients data needs.

The Areas I hoping to received some information on.

Modem to Modem Connections.

What would be a good protocol to use.
Concerns: Solid connection and speed a far second.

Current problem. The dun will disconnect a random interval. I have been
playing with a variety of protocols to find the best one. I have found that
disabling the compression feature reduces the failure rate.

Synchronization of Access 97 Data.

What happens during a synchronization when a disconnection occurs.

Can a recover process be built or is it prebuilt into the system.

Trying to avoid damaging the database beyond use. I understand that a
indirection synchronization would be the best, but without a Exchange Server
installed on the Server.

Please suggest if the indirect is the best maybe purchasing a Exchange
Server is the best? This is a area I have very little knowledge.
