Knowledgeable folks of the NT world !

About a month ago, I moved my DHCP server to a different hardware platform. Since
the move, some PC's have been coming up with TCP/IP address conflicts. However
when I run WINIPCFG, the information is slightly confusing, it states that the
lease was obtained the previous day even when I do a Release and Renew. Secondly
if I change the person to a fixed IP address within the scope, and then exclude
the IP address from the DHCP scope, they still get an IP address conflict !

Can anyone explain what I am doing wrong ??

Secondly I also need to migrate WINS to this new server platform, is there a
simple way to do this ? I.e could I stop the wins service, and move the wins.mdb
onto the new server, and then start the wins service (after altering the DHCP
client info too!).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers

Tom

Without more details on the original setup (e.g. DHCP scopes, lease
periods, exclusions, reservations, subnets, etc.), then new setup, and
exactly what machines are reporting conflicts, it would be difficult to
offer any suggestions on the DHCP question.

For the WINS question, you might want to look at KB article "How to Move
a WINS Database to Another Server [Q193820]"
