OLE5.0 newsgroup handling goes bananas

This maybe an OLE 5.0 problem,
but took place on a NT4 SP6 standalone WS.

For many months have been monitoring this newsgroup,
... download new headers when go online and sometimes mark messages
when off line for synchronize when next online.
This morning did synchronize and found downloaded messages did not
correspond to those requested. ie:
Details shown in subject/from/sent did not conform to the message presented
!?

Subsequently found that apparently latest messages where somehow adopting
header details of older messages. ie:
Header details of latest messages not appearing and found that older message
details now corresponded to some newer message when selected (online).

Did a newsgroup Reset and things seem reasonably back to normal.
Is this a known bug when many headers have accumulated locally ??
