I used Partition Magic 3.0 to provide me with a dual boot to Windows 95 and
NT4 each on separate bootable partions. As I now had all my hardware &
software NT4 compatible I decided to migrate totally to NT4. I backed up
all my files using NT4 backup and then used Partition Magic text mode to
remove my Win95 partition and resize my NT4 NTFS boot partition and the
logical partition I store my programs on.

On completion of this Winnt refused to boot saying a system file was
missing. I tried recivering with the repair disk - no go!. I then reloaded
NT4 and restored my boot partition and registry from Tape. The system would
now not boot again. I had to reload again from scratch and re-install my
programs, SP3, set up my hardware etc.

Why is this surely restoring a system backup should put all back to normal?
