I've created a login script as a batch file (login.bat) on the NT (4.0 SP3) server and actived it in the "Usermanager for Domains". The batch work fine but sometimes Windows 95 and Windows NT WS 4 doesn't execute this script at logintime.

From my point of view this is at random. It occurs on different clients (95 and NT WS 4) in the whole network. We've already installed NetBEUI, TCP/IP and IPX/SPX. For my it look like a bug (-one more-) because it's totaly at random whether a client execute the script or not.

Can anybody help me????? Any hint is welcome !! If possible could you send our ideas as emails to ma...@sbtech.ch *thanks* :-(

Hi.

Dou you have more than one server in your network that act as domain controllers (PDC & BDC)?
If so, you must ensure that the login script is copied to every servers netlogon directroy. This can be done by using directory replication.
Also, enable load balncing in system policies to enable win95 users to run the script from different servers.

The logon script must be located in the NETLOGON share on every PDC and BDC
for correct operation.

Assuming you have checked what the other fine gents have suggested, my
question would be whether users are present when the scripts "fail" to run.
I ask because I have had foolish (impatient) users close the "dos" window in
which a script is running before it has had a chance to accomplish its
intended function.

Just a thought...

Users can be authenticated by any of the domain controllers on your domain.
So, if you have more than one Domain Controller (PDC and at least one BDC),
you must replicate the scripts to the additional servers. If you do not do
so, Users that are being authenticated by the server that lacks the script
will not execute the script.
