In our company, we have someone who manages where files are kept, this person
is allowed to browse through folders and make new folders. She is not our
most technical employee, so command prompts are unknown to her.
I gave her the ntfs rights to browse folders and create folders, but when
she creates folders in explorer, it immediately creates a folder named "new
folder" and then she wants to change the name, but is not allowed to do that.
After a lot of reading i could not find the permission to get this working,
so i decided to try them all. To my surprise i found out that the delete or
delete subfolders permission also grants the right to rename.
This is a very unwanted situation. Telling her how to use a command prompt
is not an option, spaces in directory names and quotes and those exceptions
are not going to work.
Does anyone know a workaround to get ntfs to allow name changes without
allowing deletes?
