We have two servers that are running DFS/FRS, over a slow link. One is the
master of the data and the FRS is for availability/recovery. If one server
were to go down and then be recovered via backup:
- Would all the files be copied over the slow link again?
- Could we set up prestaging so that not all files were copied across the
link?
We are considering changing the servers, the important part is the data. If
we deployed two newly built
servers, and restored the DFS/FRS directory on one server:
- We could leave the FRS to copy all the files across to the other. This
would take a long time.
- Could we restore the data on both servers, and not have all the files
copied across. Would any form of pre-staging
help with this?
