When I use WMP10 to rip from a CD to the computer while I am on line, I get
all the album information and a nice album art to look at in the player. Also
when I go to the - "My music folder" in windows, where the WMA files are
then stored for that cd, I can view as a thumbnail and I also now see a nice
picture of the album cover. Good for recognising quickly my music.
Now this is it : When I then copy that file from My music to my Archos MP3
player I am not able to see the album art any more. ?
But strangely when I do the exact same process, for example with itunes to
rip the same cd to an mp3 I must drag an image to the album art box from
Amazon or typical - but I also get a nice album art image in itunes. Now when
I then move this file to my Archos player I can see the album art there.
However in the My music folder, when I change to thumbnail view there is no
album art.
This is driving me crazy.... Why is this so complicated. I cannot find where
this information is stored and how to make it available in my computer and
other devises at the same time.
Thanks in advance for any help on this. Ian
Probably a hidden file.

Windows' and Windows Media Player's folder art management methods are at
loggerhead. I'm told that the way that this works is not a bug as WMP
(or actually Microsoft) gets to "own" what happens to your folder art on
your computer, even if you put the art files there yourself. You make up
your own mind.

Even on your computer it's incredibly complicated, mostly due to use of
hidden (v9) or hidden system (v10) files for Album Art.
I've written up some of the issues at
http://msmvps.com/blogs/thinice/archive/2004/11/14/19085.aspx and in
succeeding blog entries.
