1. Will not play sound in any *.asf files.
2. Will play only some of the MPEG or AVI files I have. In many cases it
will say "File not found" even though I double-clicked on the MPEG or AVI
file or dragged it into MediaPlayer.
3. Regardless of media format, it will sometimes stop playing and ask to
send an error report to Microsoft.
4. In all cases, the video size does not resize to the window size even
though I explicitly tell it to.
5. After playing a few short movies, it just hangs and has to be killed with
the Task Manager.
None of these problems occurred with the MediaPlayer that came with Windows
XP.
Note to Mike Beckerman: it seems my newsgroup server cannot find the
microsoft.public.windowsmedia.beta newsgroup you mention.

Keep in mind that it *is* a beta and you shouldn't expect that from *not* happening. It is always best to read what betas can and will do before installing them (MS did provide that info). By the way, I have been using WMP9 in every category you listed (and more) flawlessly. So far, I am very pleased with it.

I can't wait for it to be released without the bugs, because it DOES have
some appealing things.
1 - a better looking interface.
2 - loads a LOT faster than the 8.
3 - adds movies to the playlist INSTANTLY instead of having to physically
sit there and load every time. Sometimes I'll load about 20 movies then I
have to sit there and wait while it processes EACH ONE. Very tedious.

The CDDB/find/update info is IMHO the most flawed part, but hey, it IS beta,
and I prefer it to wmp8!
