I'm trying to create a DVD-R of about 80 CDs in .wma format so they
will play at random from my DVD player which supports this. I've used
the player's "Get Names" to identify and rename the tracks. But it
seems to be the convention that each file is given only the song title
as an identifier, not title and artist, with a separate folder of
files being created for each artist. The DVD will not play randomly if
the files are in separate folders, so I want to put them all together,
but there seems no way to identify the artist if I do this.
Is there any way to have the player identify the artist inherently in
the file name other than adding it into the Track category manually
for each song?

Tools > Options > Rip/Copy Music > File names [button] allows you to specify
WMPs naming scheme for ripped tracks.

Then you'll have to turn on the rename and rearrange feature.

Files Names (button) not there AFAICS; version is 8.00.00.4487. Do I
need to upgrade?
