WMP 9 - An internal application error has occured (Windows Me)

Some time ago, i installed WMP9 and it was working perfectly.... But now i
receive error messages : An internal application error has occured in WMP9
since I had many problems on this computer (and i've tried to change the
serial number of the C: drive in dos to restore some informations and didn't
take my old serial )

So now, I have re-install all my programs without formating my harddrive, i
have introduced each cd's and process with the re-installation with success,
but the only thing that won't work is WMP9 ... and I don't have the Restore
fonction enable on Windows Me . Is there a way to totally uninstall it, and
have the opportunity to re-install or do I have to format ??
Any idea will be accepted ...
