I have Windows XP SP2 and Windows Media Player 11. Every time I try to play
videos, I get a codec error. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall WMP11
but that does not help. I also installed the Edskes File Mirror K-Lite Mega
Codec package but that does not help. The latest codec error is C00D10D1.
When I click the "web help" option to download the codec, it takes me to
wmplugins.com. From there, I am directed to the microsoft codec download
page for WMP7, 8, 9, and 10. The downloads are also for Win98, Me, and W2K.
Nothing for XP and WMP11. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brino

I think you have the same problem that I reported (see "can't get WMP 11 to
play asf files" a few days back). Same error message and I got the same run
around - off to wmplugins.com looking for a codec, etc. I understand that the
problem is that Sharp have not yet produced the required codec for WMP 11 and
there is no codec available. I find it quite incredible that Microsoft have
come up with WMP 11 - a player that will not even play Microsoft files! I
have downloaded VLC Media Player. It will play all my stuff - try it.
However, it is very irritating that Microsoft have released media player that
will not play files that earlier versions of WMP would play, and seem unable
to offer any support to solve these problems.

Who exactly did you deal with in official support? As far as I know, this
is a known issue, and we're just waiting on Sharp...

But that's a Vista-only issue.

What's the specific codec error?
What wmplugins.com page does it take you to?

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack has caused tons of bad problems over the years, I
really advise against that. (Currently they seem to like to break DVDMaker
on Vista through misregistering the Indeo Audio Codec, which is .....
helpful of them.)
