I'm a newbie to the Windows MediaPlayer. I want to add publicly available
web radio stations to my website. I'm assume, their site will stream the
audio to a popup web page... and I need the provide the station's URL and a
MediaPlay Plug-in on the client's browser. Is there demo code on during this
?
Sincerely,
King
Hi it should be pretty simple but you can't just provide a link to the
streaming URL as it might be sent to the browser (which won't know
what to do with it) insted of media player.
What you need to do is create an ASX playlist file and link to that -
it's only sent to media player (or occasionally real player if
installed)
So <a href="/station-info/station_1.asx">Station 1</a> links to a text
file (can create in notepad or by server-side script) such as
<asx version="3.0">
<entry>
<ref href="rtsp://radio.station.com/livestream" />
</entry>
</asx>
The href is the actual streaming URL which you can often get by
playing the station in media player while running the Roku radio
snooper software to find media URLs being requested by the browser or
media player: http://soundbridge.roku.com/support/dwnld_radiosnoop.php
