Hi,

I'm using WMP 11 with Vista and IE 8.

Up until 2 days ago I could stream videos through WMP and IE, but then it
all of a sudden stopped working. Nothing had changed on my part (no settings
changed etc)

There are 2 user accounts on my computer - the other user account can stream
the videos.

I have tried looking online for solutions but cannot find any. I read that
the fact that I use various internet connections may be a problem, but I have
tried deleting all of the saved connections and still not working.

I don't know much about computers, therefore would be really greatful to
anyone who could help...

many thanks,

Svandís

In media player, click the small dropdown menu below Now Playing,
choose More Options and go to Network tab.

There are 2 checkboxes for HTTP and RTSP there. Try checking and
unchecknig the boxes using your mouse.

If you *can* select and change those, make sure both are selected.

Also make sure that for the Proxy settings at the bottom of that tab,
both are set to None rather than Browser. Click and modify each one to
use No Proxy if they're set to other than "None"

If they can't be selected, I could suggest some steps to fix that on
ZachD's site (but they're a little complicated and need some
explaining)

Hi again,

thanks for the answer Neil, but unfortunately it didn't make a difference (I
could check the boxes and change proxy settings). The WMP still says
'connecting to media', 'opening media' and then 'ready', but it does not
play. When I look up error details I get this message:

'WMP cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn og sync an item
that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved,
renamed or deleted.'

I really don't understand why this is happening, it was working fine a
couple of days ago, and without any changes on my half (that I know about) it
has now stopped working.

I hope you can help:)

Hmmm, what's an exact web page with a video that demonstrates this ?
If you cut+paste the web address from your browser address bar I could
take a look... it does seem odd that the other user account works fine

this webpage for example: http://dagskra.ruv.is/sjonvarpid/4503340/2009/10/07/

Sorry it's not in English....but I have used this website a lot before...and
now it won't play at all...along with another site. I can still watch clips
like youtube, or online stuff....but nothing that seems to stream through WMP.

thanks again,

Svandís :)
