All of the animated visualizations on my WMP11 have stopped animating. That
is, visualizations that move and react to the volume of the music either
don't appear or are just static and don't move at all. This just happened
recently, and I can't think of anything in particular that has changed about
my XP setup. (My vid card drivers are up-to-date and nothing in my video
setup has changed at all recently.) Any ideas? I appreciate the help...

Does completely disabling video hardware acceleration get this working?
XP or Vista?

What changed? What video card with what driver version?
Any third party codecs/filters installed?

I have several audio and video codecs installed. The only one that was
added more recently than 2008 is the DivX codec.
Nothing else on the system had been changed when this problem started, and I
have absolutely no other problems with any WMP functions-- or any audio or
video functions for that matter.
Here's a strange twist: When I was toggling from the "Library" tab to the
"Now Playing" tab, the bars (the animated dots) in the visualization that
happened to be selected (WM9 Series Rhythm & Waves) appeared for about two or
three seconds-- not animated-- and then disappeared.
I just don't get it.
That sounds again like a video card driver issue. Had you turned off video
acceleration system-wide or just within WMP?
