Encoder for Windows XP so can play DVD from Vista

Player is Version 11.0.6000).
I have a desktop (Windows XP Pro – SP2) no DVD burner, but DVD player and
CD burner. This computer has Windows Media Player 10. (I have not upgraded
the Media Player because doing so would make me unable to use ActiveSync to
sync with my PDA.)
I have found that if I use the laptop and create a movie in Windows Movie
Maker, I can play it on the laptop but NOT on the desktop.
I downloaded and ran Windows XP Video Decoder as I was told by Dell that I
should be able to play my DVD on the XP machine. If I could not they said it
had something to do with not having codecs. According to that utility I have
Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder Version 3.5.1.103. In the column “MCE Compatible”
there is a red circle with a white “x” which I assume means it is not MCE
compatible – I think MCE means Media Center Edition.
When I clicked on “Check for Updates”, I was taken to

I am inclined to think that I should opt for the one on the right “Power
Pack: PowerDVD SE + MP3 encoder. I am simply stumbling around here, but if
anyone could give me any further light or assurance on this, I would welcome
it.

go to google. and lok for xvidcore.dll. now look for it where they dont
offer you a free scan of any type. dont go for the fixes. or the how to
repair what ever.
go to where it says thousand trades downloads. then look for where it says.
ppi click that and youll see a file called encoder 101. download that then
once you
downloaded it restart your computer. then wait one minute then restart again.
then you play all the movies you whant. if you got trouble. e-mail me at
