"out of stack space" after license update

I have a wmrm protected system running under WMRM 7.0 which has been running
happily for years.

Today I updated the license through licenseserver.windowsmedia.com which
seemed to work OK (server is W2K3 web edition).

However, now clients which are trying to aqcuire a license fail with an out
of stack space error reported from the server.

The ONLY thing that has happened is that the license was updated (the code
has been stable for several years).

The server application is VB6.

Can anyone suggest what may be wrong or how I can diagnose this?
