You know what, screw Microsoft. I've had this posted for a week and not any
of you "experts" even looked at my problem. I kept sending these error
reports after this error occurs since they began 3 months ago and there is
nothing being done to resolve this. Somebody take a look at the error
message I've posted in my original and respond to this with something,
anything just to let me know someone at least look at this newsgroup. Where
are all these MVPs?

iTunes looks better and better.

Looks like a corrupt file system
Do the following
Make sure you are showing BOTH hidden files and system files,
Make sure WMP is closed
Go to
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\
And delete the DRM folder
Then run this link
http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp

Thanks very much, MrMysterious! I was having this same problem and was at my
wits end. This was such an easy fix! Man, it's so freaking nice to search
the web for a software problem and find a solution that ACTUALLY WORKS!!!
YOU ROCK!

Hello
it is the same fix, but the folder is
C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Windows\DRM

That did it. Finally- thank you!

It's amazing that the solution to DRM not working is apparently to crash...
and the link that you gave, if you don't delete the right folder as listed
below for Vista, causes IE to crash. Amazing.

YES. Thank you! Windows Media Player has been broken, crashing everytime I
try to use it for several months now.

It's really stupid that Microsoft choose to just make Media Player crash
when DRM is corrupted, rather than giving some useful error message. Even
more idiotic, is that the link to fix it will cause IE 8 to crash if the
folder wasn't already deleted.

Way to go Microsoft Idiots

Thank you, MrMysterious

I encountered this problem after reimaging my laptop using reimage.com 's
service. Deleting the DRM folder and reinstalling the components using the
link resolved my problem. Thank you for your useful contribution. Worth
noting, the link does not work with browsers other than IE so you'll have to
open the link in IE.
