When some web pages are loading, I get a message that pops
up and says "to display this page correctly, you need to
download and install the following components: Java
Virtual Machine"
When I click download I get another error that says "The
component cannot be downloaded at this time. Please try
again later or choose 'Windows Update' under the Internet
Explorer 'tools' menu to install this component.
I go to windows update, and cannot find anything about
Java Virtual Machine.
Please Help!

This is because MS has decided that , due to its legal wrangles with Sun
(the owners of the Java name), it will no longer provide its own version of
the Java VM. (at least via 'normal' channels).
Your best bet is to visit
http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html
and download the 'original' version - which is more recent than MS's one
anyhow - This should provide the functionality you need.
