my computer is a 633 celeron with 319.0mb ram. I am
connected to the internet by a home lan, there are two
other computers on this lan also.

i consider my privacy very importent. i would like to
prevent people from getting information from my ip
address, for exsample what sites i goto while browsing.

i would like to hide my ip address from forums, newsgroups
and mirc/irc.

i was told by a person on a computer support forum, that
if i setup a proxy server it would hide my ip address.

i was then told that it would not do that, that proxy
servers use your own ip address, to pullup webpages and to
serve up post sites.

i would like to block access from my ip so it won't be
detected by forums and other websites. is this possible?

i have heard there is software that would block my ip
information.

can anyone recamend a freeware/shareware program that
would do this?

i am really do appreciate the help.

You can run, but, you can't hide. If you are on the Net, you are fair
game. Carnivore can tell if you did your "paperwork" correctly after
your last trip to the "loo".
