I just started using WinME on an older computer that I
inherited. Everything seems to work fine, but my CD-ROM
drive will not read discs. It keeps asking for me to
insert a disc. Any help?

Open Device Manager... Control Panel/System/Device Manager
Expand CDROM
Double-click on your CD drive.
Try these.
Click Propertie, uncheck "Enable digital CD audio.....", if checked.
Click Settings, uncheck DMA, if not checked, then check it.

See if that helps

Click > My Computer > F1 for Help > Or click Help > Scandisk

Using ScanDisk to check your hard disk for errors

You can use ScanDisk to check your hard disk for logical and physical errors. ScanDisk can then repair the damaged areas.

You can also start ScanDisk by clicking Start, pointing to Programs, pointing to Accessories, pointing to System Tools, and then clicking ScanDisk.
For information about how to use ScanDisk, click Related Topics below.

...and just what do you expect that to do, in the way of helping the OP with
his CD-ROM problem (especially since CD's cannot be Scandisk's)
