Adding Music to movie

When I add 2 or more pieces of music to a presentation, I'm generally
successful in fading out the preceding one and having the next one start
smoothly right after the first one ends or fades. But there are many times
when the preceding music doesn't end cleanly, i.e. at the end of the fade,
there's an annoying, audible clicking sound (as if there's a bad edit
there)...when I re-do the fade or music end from another point in the music,
the same thing happens. And yet, this is not a problem with every piece of
music I use. Please advise on how I can fix this "clicking" problem. Thanks.
