I have a p4 running windows me with a geforce 2 mx card installed. Every
thing seems to be fine. When I try to use my Sidewinder 3d pro of my old
machine I get the "Not Connected" in the control panel. I have tried a
variety of things to no avail. Can anyone steer me to the solution.

I had same problem with Sidewider Pro Froce Feedback stick. When I plugged
it into my computer joystick port I got nothing, just the "not connected"
stuff. I plugged it into my Diamond 400MX sound card and it worked fine.
Could be an addressing problem.
Hope it helps.

If you have had other controllers connected they have an id number allocated
to them and are sometimes not recognized unless the id of the one you want
to use is any number other than 1. You can change it in the control panel
(either "joysticks" or "gaming options" depending on windows version)

Hello, Have the same problem with a Gravis 15-pin game port. Found the
following information. 1. Only one game port can be set up, either the
computer or the card. 2. Go to the Microsoft site for Sidewinder "not
connected" problems. On the Gravis site they had a 7 step procedure
for overcoming the problem. 3. It seems this problem occurs on some
cards. Hope you can resolve this problem. Take Care. B.

Thanks for that. Nothing like a problem to do some learning. However the
problem continues. Clearly it is in the way windows is setting up my card.
The gameport is auto setup to use Dffo-dff7. what we want is 0200-0207. If I
install microsoft gameport it gets the address right. However the hardware
is pointing to the wrong address.
I tred removing everything and also the remove of ghosts under safe mode.
Not sure where to go next.

Hello, On the Gravis site if the 0200-0207 range is not set, the following is
suggested, uncheck: use automatic settings, look for drop-down menu with basic
configeration choices. Try another basic configeration to see if it matches the
above i/o range. If you are unable to select the above listed range please
contact your computer and/or your game/sound card manufacturer. Take Care. B.
