First you will need to install the drivers for your monitor; you can
probably find them at the manufacturer's web site. When you install them
Windows should detect your monitor properly. The problem with video card
drivers is that sometimes older versions cause conflicts and other problems.
About the only way to prevent this is to do a clean install of Windows,
rather than upgrading over an older version. This means formatting the drive
(erasing everything) and starting fresh with Windows ME and the proper
drivers. Hopefully you won't have to do that, but sometimes it's the only
way. Try installing the drivers for you monitor, remove the two that are
listed in the device manager, and reboot. It should detect one monitor now.
There are different ways to disable an onboard graphics adapter; it just
depends on who made the motherboard. Sometimes it will be a jumper, and
sometimes a setting in the bios. Check your motherboard or computer manual,
or contact the manufacturer to find out how to disable yours.
