I have a year old Casio E-10 that I have to recalibrate the screen every 4 -
5 days. I usually notice it after a weekend where the machine isn't in use.
Any ideas as to why this is happening, or what I can do? Is this a known
bug for E-10's?

Thanks

Hi Leo,

I have been experiencing exactly the same problem with my E-10. Here is
Casio's response;

========
Try the following: Connect your Cassiopeia to your desktop computer, and
open the Mobile Devices window. Copy any important files you need (such
as Note Taker documents, Voice Recorder recordings, etc.) from the
Cassiopeia to the PC, and synchronize with Schedule+ or Outlook
(depending on which one you use). Do not use the backup function, just
use the normal file copy and paste functions and synchronize.

Once you have done that, you must perform a full reset of the Cassiopeia
(which will erase anything you had previously stored in memory). To do
this, remove the main batteries and the backup battery. Wait at least
five minutes, and then put the main batteries in first. Be sure that the
switch near the battery compartment is in the LOCK position. Then
replace the backup battery, and turn the unit on again.

After resetting, do not restore an old backup file. Instead, connect to
your desktop computer, open Mobile Devices, and copy any important files
back to the Cassiopeia and synchronize again.

If you have done this and the problem persists, then there could be
something wrong with your Cassiopeia, and you should contact the
following Tourist Warranty Center for repair:

I have also been having problems with the contrast as well.

Cheers!

Ian.

I have had a similar problem to this. Does following these instructions
for a hard reset help?

I first noticed this problem after the E10 was exposed to very cold
weather, it now needs recalibrating often, especially when the weather
is changing quite a lot. It can be multiple times a day if it was cold
overnight then gets hotter, but even in stable weather it needs
recalibrating every few days.

Anyone notice anything similar?

Jane.

It started happening to me after I switched to rechargeable batteries
(the NiMH ones from Radio Shack.)

Hi Jane,

I haven't actually tried it.

My unit worked perfectly for 6 months, then the contrast and recalibration
problems showed up together. Mine has got so cold that the batteries
wouldn't power the unit but there was no trouble with the screen. Casio said
that the contrast trouble might be related to temperature.

Same thing happens on my E-11. I attribute the problem to capacitance being
stored in the plastic and causing a screen offset. (Also appears when I
start to write (Calligrapher) and a line segment zips across the letter and
causes incorrect recognition.) I can "wipe" my hand across the screen and
the calibration goes back closer to normal. Lately the weather has been
getting hot and humid and the problem has gone away.

Seems like a bug to me. I've had to recalibrate too every once in a while, and
have learnt to live with it.

I wonder if the E100 or 105 have this same problem...
