Yesterday I tried to install windows CE Embedded 6.0 Eval Edition on my
Windows 7 machine.
I did get an error saying that it is not compatible with this version of
windows(7).

Any Idea if it is possible to run windows CE embedded 6.0 on windows 7?

My environment:
AMD Quadcore, Windows 7, Visual Studio 8.

Hoping that you are experiencing trouble because it is a 64 bit
version of the OS.

CE6 has been around for quite a while by now and there are a number of
updates you need to apply to run it under Vista/W7 32bit, and a number
of updates that add more functionality. It dosn't officially run on 64-
bit W7, but with some TLC it can be tweaked to work OK. And, it
currently *only* run under VS2005...

From the top of my head, the installation procedure to end up with the
latest "R3" release on 32bit Vista/W7 (just ignore incompatibility
warnings and press on with the install -the SPs and Vista specific
updates that follow will fix those issues):

Install Visual Studio 2005 (Except Express Edition)
Install Visual Studio 2005 SP1
Install Visual Studio 2005 SP1 for Vista (If running Vista/W7)
Install Windows Embedded CE 6.0 (Evaluation Edition)
Install Windows Embedded CE 6.0 SP1
Install Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2
Install Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3

Install "additional cumulative product updates" aka "Monthly updates".
