Hi,
As default there are some icons and shortcut icons on window CE screen, such
as Recycle Bin, My Computer and as shortcut e.g. Media Player.
Is there any way of removing this icons from default windows CE display.
Thank you all.

Tulga

The shortcuts like your Media Player should be found in \Windows\Desktop.
If you remove them from there, they will be gone from the desktop. I don't
recall any way to remove My Computer or the Recycle Bin...

Hi Megha,
U can remove those ICONS easily.
The WCESHELLFE.DAT file contains the setting for icons to
be displayed on the desktop. Just remove those lines..

To remove media player short cut from start menu - just
remove the setting in the directx.DAT file

example:
;Directory("\Windows\LOC_DESKTOP_DIR"):-File("Media
Player.lnk", "\Windows\ceplayer.lnk")
;Directory("\Windows\LOC_PROGRAMS_DIR"):-File("Media
Player.lnk", "\Windows\ceplayer.lnk")

The shell decides what namespace icons (My Computer & Recycle Bin) to show
on the desktop by enumerating the keys under HKLM\explorer\desktop. Remove
all of the namespace guids from under this registry key and the icons won't
show up anymore. This key is populated by wceshellfe.reg in Windows CE 4.1
and earlier and shell.reg in Windows CE 4.2. As for the lnk files, Paul T.
is right on.

Note: It is possible to wipe out those settings in the registry by adding
them to your platform.reg file with the "-" im place to remove the entry
instead of overwriting it with something new.
