I got an Epson Artisan 720 printer years ago because it was compatible with the Macbook OS I purchased. It has worked with every OS update since Lion. However, since I updated to Big Sur, I can't seem to add it: I get this message:

Does this work with other devices? If so, uninstall then reinstall the printer drivers. Perform a restart after the uninstall, and then once more after the install. If no drivers exist, then Epson probably has yet to do its part in creating them.

I have tried everything I can think of to resolve. I was asked to copy and print off some old class pictures and everything was going fine. I had printed about 12 photos (all black and white) when the printer started giving a green tint to each photo. I tried setting the printer to print black and white---didn't help. I printed test page that looked fine. Nozzle check appears fine. I did a head cleaning 2 times. Finally, just replaced all the print cartridges----same thing. Green tint!! My thinking is that there is something wrong with the print head but I have no idea how they work. I have also just tried copying directly from the printer and get the same result---green tint. I am beginning to think I have exhausted all the possibilities and it may be time to get a new printer??? Has been a good one up till now. I am guessing it is about 5 years old? Any thoughts? I would add in looking online (Google) many people have similar problems but I haven't seen to many answers other than changing out the Magenta cartridge. (I tried that first and it didn't help.)

Thanks! You are a smart man! I ran the nozzle check again and while I thought it looked OK before-----I failed to notice it actually only printed out 5 test patterns and there should be 6. The Light Magenta doesn't print at all! I again ran the cleaning and same result except, this time, it was missing a couple little sections in the black. Do I need a new print head? New printer? Thought I would try using a little alcohol to try and open up the nozzle some. Ran another test, didn't help. Ran another cleaning and another nozzle check---this time not only am I missing the Light Magenta, I am also missing most of the Light Cyan!

The Artisan 837 uses Claria HD dye inks, which are not known for being a big clog problem (unlike some of the Epson printers using pigment inks). My R280 uses the same inks, rarely clogs, and has always been trivially easy to clean.

well, since I have done the cleaning yesterday and again today 2 more times, I think it is probably history! Thanks for the heads up on suggestions for replacements. Would all of those units have similar quality photo prints? My printer does not have automatic feed, I really don't need that feature.

Any of the models under discussion should be able to make good photo prints on glossy, semi-gloss, and luster photo papers. To copy and scan, you want an all-in-one instead of a dedicated photo printer, which rules out the Canon Pro-100. So take your choice among them based on features and prices:

Buying an Epson XP-8500 strikes me as paying more for less, unless you want its smaller physical size. Buying a Canon TS8220 is getting the low-cost option, albeit probably not a bad printer. But Canon noticeably degraded the specifications when they replaced the TS9020 and TS8020 with the TS9120 and TS8120, and then they replaced those with the TS8220, i.e., the former top model in that range is gone.

The Epson EcoTank and Canon MegaTank printers are not the best choices for printing photos. Instead, they're designed to offer color printing at a low cost per page, albeit with inferior print quality and longevity.

Don't get me wrong: many people who are not demanding about photo quality, don't expect their photo prints to last many years, and just want to print using 'printer manages colors' on regular glossy photo paper may be happy with the photo print quality of one of the tank printers.

Again, thanks for all of your knowledge and time to help! You are right, I would like the best photo prints. Do you know if the TS9020 has a separate compartment for the 4x6 printer paper? Also wasn't sure what you meant earlier when you said "Buying an Epson 8500 strikes me as paying more for less, unless you want its smaller physical size." Do you think it isn't as good as the ts9020? I don't mind the smaller physical size and in a picture of the ts9020 I noted it looked like the paper feed was taking up room on the back of it standing in an upright position. Also, you indicated the TS9020 is now discontinued so that concerns me about buying ink in the future. Is there a machine that has taken its place yet?

That's what you want. I have run 4x6, 5x7 and 8-1/2x11 photo paper through my TS9020. It is asking too much in my opinion for a printer to run photo paper a full 180 degree bend around a roller, as it would from a cassette. The WiFi has also worked well. Once the printer learned my network, any subsequent installs on other computerd went well.
