Hi,

Is there a step-by-step guide on how to get WinCE going on the Intel
Mainstone II
board (with the PXA27x/Bulverde processor)? Tried to dowload the eboot.nb0
that's provided with the 5.0 Platform Builder via JFlashMM and it did not
work.
The board works fine if I used the .NET 4.2 eboot. So is there anything I
missed
to get this going? Just for clarity, is there a step-by-step guide to get
WinCE 5.0
run on the Intel Mainstone II / PXA27x?

Thanks in advance,
Kris

Hi Celeste,

Thank you for your prompt reply. Could you resend the attachment directly
to my e mail? For the moment, it seems that my news server does not let
attachments go through. My address is "kris dot rahardja at philips dot
com". I will keep the community know as soon as I try your new how-to
documents.

Thanks again,
Kris

Hi Celeste,

Thank you for sending the document. So we followed it and basically the only
two things different that we noticed, compared to what we did yesterday were
the NULL-modem connection from J47 and the JFlashMM box disconnection from
J4. We followed these instructions but still it did not work.

We tried with the eboot.nb0 from the WinCE 5.0 distribution (\WINCE500
\PLATFORM\MAINSTONEII\SRC\BOOTLOADER\EBOOT\BIN\eboot.nb0) and from
our own build output. We also tried the NULL-modem connection from J47 as
well as the DB-9 connector on the processor daughter card. Nothing worked.

Also, your document mentions about the LED displays counting down from
0000 0003 to 0000 0000 when booting up after eboot is installed, and we
also did not see that happen.

Somewhere on your MSDN website mentions that we should be using the part
number NBMMNS3BVS. Would this make any difference? Our main board is
rev 2.1 C, PMIC board is rev 1.0 D and the daughter board (the one that hosts
the PMIC board and the CPU card) is version 2 E. Is this set of boards
supported by WinCE 5.0?

Anything else we missed? At this point we're thinking to revert to 4.2, as
this
version works pretty well already (from the eboot install, WinCE kernel
install
to the kernel execution)...

Thanks for the help,
Kris

I will follow up on these with our developer and tester and get back to you.
Thanks!

Great, thank you... FYI, we've reverted to 4.2 to be able to continue our
work, and so 5.0 will be at a lower priority for the moment...

Celeste-

Any update on the BSP how-to release? I'm trying to bring up a system based
on an Intel 80200 very similar to the PXA27x and having problems getting the
PCCARD drivers to load. The problem is a call to AcivateDeviceEx that's
returning NULL.

Thanks,
Brian Kuebert

Sorry for the delayed response. The Windows CE 5.0 docs on MSDN Online has
been refreshed to include the BSP setup info for the MainstoneII:

Brian,

I'm not sure if the MainstoneII BSP how-to helps, but here it is:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/wcehardware5/html/wce50howHowToUseBSPForIntelMainstoneIIDevelopmentPlatform.asp?frame=true

If you have access to Windows CE 5.0 and can install the shared source, I
would suggest looking at the sources for the PXA27x BSP and use that as a
guide to bring up your 80200.

Thanks,
Celeste

Hi Celeste,

Thank you for your response.

Could you check with your developers about the board versions? As I mentioned
in my earlier e-mail, I have a main board rev 2.1 C, PMIC board rev 1.0 D

and the
daughter board (the one that hosts the PMIC board and the CPU card) is
version 2 E.

Is this set of boards supported by WinCE 5.0? Do you have any board
references
that make up the Mainstone II vs. Mainstone III?

Thank you,
