Our company is considering a Motorola MC 3090 purchase, which supposedly can
run Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 or Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system (from
their site).

Since I never used a CE device I'm wondering if I'll be able to connect it
to our WLAN. We use Radius authentication (neeeds to be a domain user, has to
have a certificate)

Thanks in advance.

What actual authentication protocol does the WLAN use? RADIUS just means
that it might be LEAP, PEAP, EAP-TLS, etc., etc. Windows CE does not support
everything.

Certainly, the certificate is no problem. Windows CE, at least in a typical
build, incudes a Control Panel applet for importing certificate files. You
can then select the correct certificate to use for WLAN authentication from
the WLAN dialog.

One other thing to note is that ***Windows CE is not A thing***. It's
completely modular. I happen to include WLAN support and EAP support in all
of my builds, but there is no requirement for a given OEM to include
*anything* in particular in a given device. If your device doesn't include
EAP support, you are out of luck, so beware of any general statements about
Windows CE supports this or that. All that means is that a build of Windows
CE *can* be made with that support, not that every device running CE has it.

Thank you for your quick reply.

EAP typeused: PEAP
Authentication Method used: EAP-MSCHAP v2

But since you said it's modular, I can assume then I could be buying a
device that although could support this...might not?

Best regards.
