All Windows CE documantation indicates that CAPI is
supported from Windows CE 3.0.

I have tried to enroll for a certificate from Microsoft CA
(stand alone) by filling a form (from Jornada 720, and
some others).
I failed to do this because the enrollment page could not
find any CSPs on my windows CE (although I can find in the
registry
(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\comm\Security\Crypto\Defaults\Provider)
the "Microsoft Base Cryptographic provider" CSP.
Why is that? Is it possible to enroll for a certificate
from a windows CE, and install the certificate in the CAPI?

How can I view the certificates in the CAPI (like with the
internet explorer or the mmc tool in win2K)?

We do not support the xenroll activeX control on CE, so you cannot enroll
from a Microsoft CA without writing a custom application.

Did you write an application to enroll?

Thanks for your answer.
I have an enrollment application for Check Point Internal
CA (which uses the ICEnroll) - but I didn't try to compile
it for Windows CE yet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that Windows CE
supports Crypto API but has no way to manage certificate
without an external application (for example to load
certificate to the CAPI store from p12 file, to use the
browser as a client to enroll for a certificate, to see
which certificates I have in each store ...)?

Does CE.Net supports some of that?

Thanks in advance,

Ron

There is a control panel applet that ships in CE (3.0 and .Net) that allows
you to manage your certificates. This applet is available through Platform
Builder but is not included on Handheld PC or Pocket PC devices. For those
devices, you will need to write your own application to manage certificates.
