Does anybody know the fix for this, or failing that, could somebody please
send me the relevant registry settings to make it work.
Thanks,

Why do you think that was being silly? Many of us have VC and eVC on
one computer. Even VC, eVC 3, and eVC 4. with help working for each
one.

I tried using google to look up the whole message (as in your subject
line). I got hits 55. The second was a 25 Sep 2000 thread called
"Unable to display help in VB, VC++" in
microsoft.public.vstudio.setup. That looks potentially useful, but I'm
not sure. I saw some others that look about as useful. I also saw one
thread where the "solution" was to uninstall Visual Studio before
installing eVC; I don't buy that.

What search string did you try?

The idea is to manually regsvr32 an appropriate vshelp.dll. The vshelp.dll
that I registered seemed to belong to eVC3 rather than eVC4, but who's
complaining - it works!

Sigh of relief.

I'm pretty sure that's the same as recommended in the threads I found.
So I'll try to remember next time someone posts a similar question, so
I will be more confident that I found useful info.

I used copy and paste to use the subject from your post, which looks
the same as your string. I used advanced group search
(http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search) and put the subject
in the second line (exact phrase)
