Your email account provider has that information.
They should have a help page on their website.
If you tell us who provides your email account, perhaps someone can assist
you.

Use the Configuration Settings on this page:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry

NB: Set Outgoing server (SMTP) to Port 587, not Port 25!

See PA Bear's response to Lim.
However, your problem may not be identical.
To get custom help, right-click on your error message, copy, then
paste it into a reply here.

Start by beginning your own new thread instead of hijacking someone else's.

Now I encountered this message error.
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.live.com', Server:
'pop3.live.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Close but no cigar. Again, use the Configuration Settings on this page:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry

TIP: Tools | Accounts | Mail | [new Hotmail POP3 account] | Properties |
Servers | Incoming mail server | Log on using Secure Password Authentication
<=Do NOT check/enable this option!

TIP: Tools | Accounts | Mail | [new Hotmail POP3 account] | Properties |
Servers | Outgoing mail server | My server requires authentication
<=check/enable this option

TIP: Tools | Accounts | Mail | [new Hotmail POP3 account] | Properties |
Advanced:

=> Outgoing (SMTP) server port will need to be 587 (not 25) for most users
=> Incoming (POP3) server should be port 995 (not 110)
=> Both SSL options must be checked/enabled!!

TIP: Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional protection and it may be causing your problem.

Live.com Settings:

Server names and ports:
POP3 = pop3.live.com Port = 995
SMTP = smtp.live.com Port = 587

Checkboxes you need to check include:

Server Tab: "My server requires authentication" (Click "Settings" button
also and fill in "Log on Using" email address - *** but do NOT check the
checkboxes there . . . .)

Advanced Tab: BOTH outgoing and incoming - "This server requires a secure
connection (SSL)"

General Tab (if desired but generally recommended): "Include this account
when receiving mail or synchronizing"

Should work - if you get errors post the entire error message (cut-n-paste)
for further assistance.

Are you really Yahoo - or are you Live.com (as is the original post which
you quoted)?
