You are using the wrong Port numbers & server name, change them on your
accounts properties, set it up as follows:

POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example your...@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows
Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25 or 587)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes

That server does not support port 110. You must use port 995 with SSL.
The complete settings given here:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry
Use port 587 rather than port 25 for the outgoing (SMTP) server.

This is the message that I keep getting in trying to set up my yahoo account
to my Windows Mail.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was 'Hogh...@yahoo.com'. Subject 'Fw: Welcome
to Windows Mail', Account: 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server:
'plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '530
authentication required - "for help go to
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-11.html"', Port: 465, Secure(SSL):
Yes, Server Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Assuming you have a paid ("Mail Plus") Yahoo account, do the following:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
The box for "My server requires authentication" must be checked.

Your email provider will have it. Contact your ISP if you're using their
mail server. Otherwise use a search engine to find your mail settings.
