Why does it have to be so painful...

I am trying to upgrade form business to ultimate. After30 minutes of doing
stuff (which is supposed to only "unlock features"). I get the following in
the setuplog:

Couldn't set file pointer to 0x0[gle=0x00000003]

2007-10-06 10:48:11, Error [0x060616] IBS Callback_UpdateBootCode:An

Tried it several time, tried inspecting the disk (with fix errors)...no

Help please!

Detailing the steps you performed in attempting to upgrade would be
helpful - from the statement "...After30 minutes of doing stuff (which is
supposed to only "unlock features")...." - exactly to what does "stuff"
refer? Are you using an "Anytime Upgrade" key or the key from an Ultimate
installation?

Thanks for replying.

I am using the Anytime Upgrade DVD I purchased from MS. The steps are:

1. Launch the setup from DVD
2. Download the "newer" version sinc eit detects it
3. Upgrade starts (takes ~20 minutes to "assemble files")
4. Goes through a first pahse of upgrade
5. Give a vague error that states "Cannot continue with installation" and
the only real errors I find are in the file above in
C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.txt

I would appreciate any help.

Hello Bruno,

I know this issue is almost 4 years old, but wondering if you ever resolved the issue with "CheckSysPartAndReadBootCode: Error reading NTFS boot sectors!" when attempting to upgrade from Windows Vista Business to Vista Ultimate? I'm encountering the same exact error and Microsoft support has not been helpful.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!
Eric

Not only, is this 2007 thread badly dated, but...Microsoft was sinced cancelled its
Usenet news server (in 2010).
